Leading the Region

Building a sustainable future is a long-standing commitment. We operate and develop Sharjah Airport according to sustainable development principles, ensuring our business is environmentally, socially, and economically responsible.

We are proud to lead the region in sustainable aviation by holding the highest recognition in the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme by Airports Council International (ACI). In 2025, we successfully renewed our Level 3+ (Neutrality) accreditation, making us the only carbon-neutral airport in the GCC for the fourth consecutive year.

We actively reduce our carbon footprint through a formal management plan, stakeholder engagement, and continuous monitoring, including deploying a new electric-drive fleet.

Our Level 3+ accreditation with ACI highlights our commitment to the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy and sets a benchmark for the region.

Carbon Footprint Reduction

We are committed to improving air quality both inside and outside the airport. Initiatives include growing indoor plants and installing enhanced ventilation systems throughout the terminal. Externally, we run a tree-planting programme that helps reduce environmental impact, as a single tree can absorb 23 kg of CO₂ annually.

We place environmental management at the core of our operations by following a ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ strategy. Initiatives include strict monitoring of electricity and water consumption and an integrated waste management system aiming for zero landfill waste.

Our day-to-day activities are managed using a well-established environmental management system, certified to ISO 14001:2015.
